This article presents the results of a study on the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction by proper waste management and carbon sequestration by nature conservation. Through reviewing the literature, different waste management alternatives were examined and the most appropriate approach for waste management, which followed the circular economy concept and had the smallest environmental impacts was selected.
